ACTIVE ARTS


Active Arts is a Southampton based organisation that facilitates events and workshops through which people of all ages and abilities can explore diverse activities in a stimulating and open environment, inspiring expressive and creative confidence.

Our activities include:

Holistic Therapies
Arts & Crafts
Singing

Our events our welcoming and friendly, come on you’re own, or with family and friends, and meet new people from all walks of life.

Community spirit is encouraged through active participation and involvement at our events, with voluntary and paid working opportunities being available within the organisation.

We regularly work with Educational Services and Schools, Corporate and Team Building Events, Youth and Community Groups, Special Needs and Learning Services, Fun Days and Festivals.  We are happy to travel and provide all the equipment needed for our activities.

Active Arts offers the opportunity to work within the Arts through Event Management & Workshop Facilitation
We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in helping out on a casual basis with our workshops & events.
Also if you are interested in being more involved within the organisation, listed below are the different areas in which you can gain working experience on a more formal  basis.  You may also have something else you would like to offer, be it a skill, workshop or anything else, Please let us know.

Catering (Cooking / Food Preparation / Serving / Washing Up)
Drum Facilitator Support (A vital role within Facilitating workshops etc... Gain experience of how to teach in a facilitating environment whilst overseeing and supporting the group learning experience)
Event Support (Setting Up and Breaking Down Events, Decor, Lighting & Sound, Meet & Greet, Transportation, Resourcing Equipment)
Administration (Promotion, Publicity Distribution, Programming Events, Handling Enquires)
Design (Photography, Website, Publicity)

Upcoming Events In April:

DRUM CIRCLES

Drum_Circle2Drum_Child_AdultDrum Circles give us the opportunity to discover and express ourselves joyfully and freely through rhythm and feel the connections we create whilst playing together in a fun, informal and supportive atmosphere.  It can also be great for releasing stress and tension in a positive way, whilst developing focus, clarity and confidence.

During the session we will learn techniques to play the African Drum as part of an ensemble group and develop key musical skills such as rhythmicity and improvisation.  We will provide all the instruments needed, however feel free to bring your own.  No prior musical experience needed.  This session is suitable for all ages and abilities.  Family's welcome.

World Tree Cafe Nights

Come along for a fun and informal evening with Active Arts and The World Tree Cafe with vegetarian food, music, chat, laughter, musicians and lots more always possible...

In an open, friendly and relaxed atmosphere at The Allsorts Psychic Cafe. Families welcome.

All are welcome to bring instruments for spontaneous performances and jamming.

Vegetarian Food, Cakes, Indian Masala Chai, Teas & Juices, on sale in the cafe.
